COTR will be hosting their 1st Annual Labor Day Hocking Hills FA Trail Marathon (and 1/2 marathon). As a fat ass event this a low key event with no fees and no frills. Just a chance to come out and run some trails with friends. Aid will be provided approx. every 3 miles along the course. The trails are well marked but there won't be course markings so each runner will be given a course map. The run starts at 8am sharp at the Old Man's Cave parking area. Runners instructions start at 7:45am. Hope to see you there!

  1. I might actually not have a race/or hurt too bad to actually get to come. However I am running really slow right now, do you have people of all ability to be able to stay with someone???? Also if I do get to come my friend sent me some money, can I buy a pink one of those shirts?? Thanks..... Hope everyone's training is going well.

  2. Hi COTR -

I am visiting Delaware next week from CO and need to sneak away from the family visiting for a 20+ mile trail run. From clicking around it looks like Mohican and Hocking Hills areas are a bit too far away for me, so I was hoping for some suggestions. Can I put together 20 - 26 good single track miles at Alum Creek State Park? Is it accepted to run on the Bridle trails there? Mountain bike trails? Any suggestions would be helpful. I can easily run on country roads, but I would prefer to stay off the asphalt if possible. Lots of climbing/rolling hills would be welcomed. Thanks a bunch.

  3. Yes the mt. bike trails are open to runners too. there are 3: easy 1.5M, middle 5.25; advanced 5.5M. the maps are not quite accurate on the distance - probably due to parts being closed due to weather. The bridle trail probably does not allow runners but if there are no riders then.... just wear bright colors so people can see you so as not so spook the horses. And be vocal as you approach.

Thanks for the advice and the more accurate distances. I will see if I can join some of the mtn bike trails with the multipurpose trail and Africa Rd. Probably stay off the horse trails unless mtn bike trails are crowded in the early AM. I was also considering Highbanks but it is not getting much love on the poll to the right.:) Thanks a bunch,

  5. Yeah, if you are coming from CO - Highbanks is 2-3 person wide with crushed limestone - not single track like you may be used to - so it may be disappointing in that sense, but it is pretty - run it counter clockwise - starting from behind the main ranger station - first parking lot on right. good hills. There is also a primitive trail 3.5M the coyote or dog trail. that starts at the top of that same lot. have a good run!!
